Staying
young with Maharishi Ayurveda
Surprisingly,
Ayurveda turns out to be the mother of anti-ageing treatments. The
extension of life span has been the main goal of Ayurvedic medicine
for thousands of years. The Sanskrit word “Ayurveda” means “knowledge
of life”. “Ayus” means life and Veda means “knowledge”. It is translated
as “the knowledge of long life”. This health care system from the
Himalayas is more than 2,500 years old and deals with the wholeness
of mind, body and spirit.
When
compared to modern medicine the relevance of Ayurvedic wisdom is
a continual surprise. Ayurveda has an abundance of methods to slow
down the ageing process and to repair existing wear and tear. These
methods include meditation, yoga, breathing exercises, building houses in
tune with nature (Maharishi Sthapatya Veda), well-balanced sport
and exercise, therapies using the five senses, and a multitude
of dietary measures that can be tailored to suit the individual
requirements.
In
particular, the classical Panchakarma treatment and the ancient knowledge
of herbal preparations, known as Rasayanas, specifically help to prevent
ill-health and simultaneously lengthen the life span. Anti-ageing
with Ayurveda is free from unwanted side effects because it focuses
on the use of the body's own intelligence to activate the healing
process and to balance the functions of mind and body.
