Dr.
phil. Karin Pirc was born in Hamburg in 1951.In 1971 she began her
studies in educational science and psychology at Hamburg University.
In 1975 she concluded her studies in educational science for the
State Examinations and gained her Diploma in Psychology. In 1984
she received her Ph.D. in Psychology.
In
1975 she studied medicine at the Hamburg University Clinic and
qualified as a licenced physcian in 1983.
From
1975 to 1977 she trained to be a Teacher of Transcendental Meditation
and has many years experience in this field.
Since
1985 she has been intensively engaged with Maharishi Ayurveda, attending
many basic and advanced training courses for doctors in Europe and
India.
In
1985 she attended a basic training course for doctors in Maharishi
Ayurveda. This included training in constitutional type assessment,
pulse diagnosis, doshas, diet, chronobiology, phytotherapy, rasayanas
and Panchakarma purification treatment under the direction of Dr.
Renate Hartmann and Dr. Barbara Grandpierre.
In
1986 Dr. Pirc attended an advanced course in pulse diagnosis under
the guidance of Dr. Raju (Vaidya).
In
1987 she took part in an advanced training course in Ayurvedic phytotherapy
(treatment using medicinal plants). The course was given by Dr.
Balraj, the Ayurvedic consultant to the Government of Andhra Pradesh,
India and an internationally renowned expert in the medicinal use
of plants.
In
1988 she attended a further advanced course in Pulse diagnosis under
the guidance of Dr. Raju (Vaidya).
In
1990 Dr. Pirc participated in an advanced course in pulse diagnosis,
marma therapy, techniques of consciousness and Jyotish (Vedic astrology),
under the guidance of Dr. Raju.
1991 Advanced training in Panchakarma led by Dr. Kasture (Panchakarma expert.).
In
1994 – 1995 Dr. Pirc worked directly with Dr. Raju and other Vaidyas
from India on treatments for chronic illness using Panchakarma and
Vedic herbal remedies.
In
2001 she took an advanced courses in pulse diagnosis, diet and the
therapeutic use of Vedic herbal preparations for chronic diseases.
In
1985 Dr. Pirc opened the first German Maharishi Ayurveda Health
Centre in Schledehausen near Osnabrück and was doctor in charge
until 1993.
In
1993 she opened the Maharishi Ayurveda Health and Seminar Centre in Bad Ems, of which she is the Medical Director.
Dr.
Pirc holds regular advanced training courses in Maharishi Ayurveda
and gives seminars to other doctors. She also regularly lectures on Maharishi
Ayurveda to medical professionals and the general public.
