Diet

1. Eat in silence in a quiet, pleasant atmosphere and have your attention on what you are eating. Do not work, read or watch television when eating. Try to eat at the same time each day. Eat in a harmonious relaxed mood.

2. Eat at a moderate pace. Eat neither too slow nor too fast. Leave one third to one quarter of your stomach empty to aid digestion. Do not leave the table either too hungry or too full.

3. Wait until one meal is digested before eating the next (appox. 3 – 6 hours between two meals). Eat only when you feel hungry.

4. Sip water or juice with your meals. Drink milk separately from meals. Either drink it on its own 20 minutes after a meal or with other sweet foods or cereals.

5. Meals should be well balanced and contain all six tastes. Special recommendations may be made according to your constitutional type and the time of year.

6. Generally we follow our spontaneous desires. Over time the body knows what it needs at any moment to maintain balance. Unhealthy desires come about due to bad habits or current imbalances.

7. In the evening avoid yoghurt, cheese, cottage cheese, animal protein and raw foods.

8. Do not cook with honey. It should not be heated.

9. Avoid cold food and drinks. They weaken the digestive system.

10. Sit quietly for a few minutes after your meal.

Preparation of food:

1. Ideally your food should be freshly prepared and of       the best available quality.

2. Meals are digested best when they are warm, well seasoned and include a little ghee. It is best not to eat reheated food.

3. Meals should always be tasty and pleasing to the eye.

4. Food prepared in pleasant surroundings by a cheerful, well-balanced chef has the best influence.
