1.
How many days are needed
for Panchakarma treatment?
A
complete course of treatment takes at least 10 days.
The
wonderful treatments also include intensive detoxification procedures.
The
following treatment plans are recommended:
10
days for regeneration and prevention?
14
days for chronic illness.
21
days for aggravated chronic disease.
Shorter
stays aid relaxation and well being, but do not have the same deeply
purifying effect of a complete course of Panchakarma treatment.

3. For which
types of illness is Panchakarma not recommended?
Ayurvedic
purification and detoxification treatment is not recommended in
cases of acute illness and acute inflammation. Even when some of
the individual treatments may be useful, they are not advised for
physically weak people or during pregnancy. In such cases it is
recommended to have a consultation with one of our doctors who can
make helpful suggestions and advise on Maharishi Herbal preparations
to improve the situation so that Panchakarma treatment may be taken
at a later date.

6. How
far in advance should reservations be made?
Panchakarma
treatment and doctors consultations are usually available with a
few weeks notice. Last minute bookings may be made if the clinic
has vacancies and the accommodation is available. Holiday times
(Easter, Summer and Christmas) are usually very busy and for these
periods you should book well in advance.

7.
What can be done at home
to prepare for treatment?
To
further improve the benefits of a Panchakarma course you can begin
at home by eating light, vegetarian food a few days before treatment
starts. Take soup in the evening and every half-hour between meals
drink hot water which has been boiled for ten minutes. This can
be prepared in the morning and kept in a thermos flask. These measures
will help to start the purification process.
If
you suffer from acute illness and do not live too far away from
Bad Ems, we would recommend a consultation with one of our doctors
a few weeks before treatment begins.

What sort of food is served
during a treatment?
All
full board guests are served three vegetarian meals a day, which
will be varied and easily digestible. Our Ayurvedic meals are not
only tasty but are also predominantly made with organic ingredients.
Hot water and Ayurvedic teas are available throughout the day.
There
are many different phases during a full course of Panchakarma treatment
and during your consultation with one of our doctors a suitable
dietary plan to be followed during treatment will be organised.

diet which will complement this process.

10.
Are there differences between
a Panchakarma course in
Germany and one
taken in India or Sri Lanka where this
treatment originated?
Having
treatment directly after a long journey with the time and climate
differences is not medically conducive to experiencing the full
effects of treatment and is therefore not recommended. The Vata
imbalance caused by such journeys will spoil part of the effect.
The purified physiology needs some time following Panchakarma treatment
to adjust to its new style of functioning which is why rest and
light food are recommended following treatment.
Maharishi
Panchakarma treatment is standardised to a very high quality and
practised under the direct guidance of prominent Vaidyas (Ayurvedic
physicians). In India and Sri Lanka there are good facilities but
there are also a large number that offer only superficial treatments
for tourists.
Follow
up for chronic illnesses is almost impossible from India or Sri
Lanka.
In
Europe there are hundreds of different Maharishi Ayurveda herbal
preparations available for almost all types of illness. They are
prepared according to the original proven recipes. They have passed
the rigid controls of the HHCCP and the BDIH as well as being certified
to DIN ISO 9001 standard. In addition they undergo intensive testing
for pollutants and harmful substances undertaken in European food
laboratories.
It
would be difficult in India or Sri Lanka to find the hygienic standards
of our facilities and the protection that provides for your health.

11. Why
are other organisations sometimes cheaper?
When
authentically practised for best possible results, Panchakarma treatment
is very labour intensive. Employment and other costs in Germany
are much higher than in India or Sri Lanka.
Despite
this, we are able to offer very competitive prices at our facilities.

Can you help with negotiations for
reimbursement from
health insurance
companies?
Health
insurance companies are only interested in facts. For this reason
we have prepared around 20 articles about Ayurveda from medical
journals which can be used in discussions and presentations to health
insurers, medical professionals and as information for your own
doctor. Most of these articles contain research studies on the benefits
of Ayurvedic treatment. Unfortunately German law does not allow
us to give this information to patients. We can only make it available
those employed in the field of medicine such as doctors, pharmacists,
medical professionals and health insurance consultants.
For
a charge of 15,00 €, payable in advance, we will send this
documentation to your doctor, pharmacist or a representative of
your health insurance company. The information is also available
for health professionals on our Internet site. To view these pages
it is necessary for them to register and receive a password.
In
addition, on payment of 7,50 €, we can send you photocopies
of relevant court judgements which have found in favour of our clients.
This allowed the individuals to recover the cost of Ayurvedic treatment
from their insurance companies.
