Advice for the spring

Physical exercise

In spring regular and light exercise such as bicycle riding, running or moderate jogging is important. The Ayurvedic principle here is to exercise up to 50% of your ability. A brisk walk in the fresh air is always good. Do not forget to put something on your head to keep it warm and take a scarf. Warm clothes are still necessary at this time.

Maharishi Ayurveda treatments

The Ayurvedic treatments offered in Maharishi Ayurvedic Clinics are especially helpful at the beginning of each new season to help maintain the balance of the doshas. In spring they are designed to eliminate accumulated impurities and free the body from excessive Kapha.

General Advice

Only eat when you are hungry. Do not eat between meals. If you feel hungry between meals, then drink fruit juice or eat sweet fruits. Eat only when the last meal is fully digested (after 3 – 5 hours). Add plenty of spices such as ginger, pepper or the spice mixture Kapha Churna to meals. Spices stimulate the production of digestive juices, thereby improving the digestion.

Reduce the following:

Cold food and drinks, food that is roasted, fried, fatty ; raw foods and raw cereals, pork and beef, cheese, quark, sweets such as biscuits and cakes, bananas.

Prefer:

Basmati rice, vegetables, vegetable soups, fresh salad (in small amounts as a side dish at main meal times), mung beans prepared as a soup (Dhal), light fruits (e.g. apples, pears and grapes).

If these recommendations are followed you will feel fit, satisfied and you will not suffer from the tiredness and colds associated with spring.
