Advice for the summer

Daily routine:

Do not sit for too long in direct sunlight. Even in the shade you can get sun-tanned! It is not only “hot-heads” who should keep cool.

Wear a headscarf, sunhat or turban. If you do get sunburnt, then try some of our After Sun Oil to reduce the Pitta disturbance of your skin.

Summer exercise should be moderate. Avoid overexertion. Swimming is especially good, as is walking in the countryside. Take a morning massage with Pitta oil and create a cool atmosphere in your room or car by using Pitta aroma oil.

Favour
light summer dishes with cucumber, courgettes, pumpkin, carrots, and asparagus. Broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce, basmati rice, ghee, cottage cheese, lassi, yellow mung beans, olive oil, coconut oil, almonds, sweet fruits, Sharkara sugar, fresh herbs and mild spices such as coriander, fennel, turmeric, fresh ginger in small amounts, cardamom, cinnamon and saffron.

Reduce the following foods:

beetroot, aubergines, radish, tomatoes, hot paprika, onions, garlic, millet, rye, maize, buckwheat, yoghurt (except as lassi), quark, sour milk, cheese, sour fruits (oranges, grapefruit, lemons), olives, cashew nuts, honey, molasses, hot and highly seasoned spices (pepper, chillies, aniseed, cloves, cumin), salt, vinegar, alcohol and red meat.
