Transcendental
Meditation is a simple, natural, technique which gives a unique
quality of rest to both mind and body. It allows stress and tiredness
to be released in a natural way, resulting in greater energy, clarity
and enjoyment of life.
The
knowledge of Transcendental Meditation has been kept lively and
pure in the Vedic tradition of India, the world's oldest tradition
of knowledge.
Veda
means truth, or knowledge, and this tradition provides knowledge
about many areas of life. For example Yoga comes from the Vedic
tradition, as does Ayurveda, the world's most ancient system of
natural health care, and Sthapatya Veda, the knowledge of building
in tune with Natural Law.
Almost
50 years ago Maharishi
Mahesh Yogi made this knowledge
available throughout the world. He offered it in a form suitable
for the modern world, while maintaining while the traditional values that
make this technique so effective.
Transcendental
Meditation allows mental activity to settle down in a natural way
while alertness is maintained and indeed enhanced. Following Transcendental
Meditation, individuals report feeling refreshed physically and
mentally. The mind is calmer and more alert, thinking is clearer,
and energy levels are increased. Benefits are cumulative with regular
practice. More can be accomplished with less effort. Those with
busy schedules note that Transcendental Meditation brings increased
efficiency in activity; time is used more effectively. When mental
and physical well-being are enhanced, personal relationships also
improve, a commonly reported and valued benefit of Transcendental
Meditation.
Transcendental
Meditation is a technique. It does not involve or require any faith
or belief. It simply utilises the natural tendency of the mind to
settle down and experience the least excited state of consciousness,
a state of restful alertness. This experience has been researched
and shown to have its own characteristic style of functioning. It is
a fourth major state of consciousness different to the states of
waking, sleeping and dreaming. |
