High Honors for the Maharishi Ayurveda
Health Centre, Bad Ems

At the occasion of an annual assembly at the Russian Academy of Science in Moscow on February 28th 2006 the Maharishi Ayurveda Health Centre at Bad Ems received an award from the International Charitable Foundation “Patrons of the Century” for its rightful activity.

Russian social security is not so pronounced as in Germany. Because poverty and the basic needs of the people dominate many fields of society, especially in remote areas, some prosperous business people and citizens formed the welfare fund called “Patrons of the Century” in 2002. This non-governmental, non-military, purely private initiative by magnanimous and influential people has already generated 5000 members, who have set themselves the goal of opening branches in all countries of the world within the next few years. They are creating a network of well-minded people who are helping their fellow citizens with financial aid and dedication in the pursuit of various projects and the promotion of peace on earth. The founders are structuring this idea in such a way that it will be continued by future generations in order to maintain an unbreakable chain of charitable people around the globe. So far, several million Euros from mainly Russian sponsors have been used for orphan school projects, support of boarding schools for children of poor families living in remote Russian areas, as well as accompanying treatment, care and psychological support for children with a tongue-jaw-palate gap, and caring for war veterans.

In addition the Fund has founded three academies for development of countries, arts and economic security. Here scientists and people with global thinking and a desire for the welfare of the whole globe are working together.

In honour of the occasion, the award ceremony was held in the presence of about 600 special guests from over twenty countries - mainly leading representatives of politics, science, art and culture.

During the ceremony Lothar and Dr. Karin Pirc were given the opportunity to introduce the special therapies of Maharishi Ayurveda and present the success of treatment of more than 12.000 patients since the Bad Ems Maharishi Ayurveda Health Centre was founded by them in 1992. They also paid tribute to the very special historic relationship between Russia and the Bad Ems spa. The Pirc couple brought with them not only greetings to the members of the Welfare Fund from the Bad Ems mayor Ottmar Canz, but they also handed over a scholarship by the art castle Balmoral at Bad Ems for a Russian student to study contemporary art.

High-ranking and well-known Russian musicians took part in the artistic programme of the ceremony with their repertoire consisting of folk music, classical orchestral music, chansons and modern pop.

The president of Serbia, several Ambassadors, some Duma parliamentarians, famous entrepreneurs and artists, outstanding medics and far beyond the Russians boarders renown scientists of outstanding merit who have contributed to an honourable degree to the well-being of the country, were honoured with medals, decorations and golden angels “for good people”.

For the first time in the young foundation’s history a very high honour was granted to Germany - to the Maharishi Ayurveda Health Centre at Bad Ems with its fifty staff “For their outstanding contribution to the revival and flourishing of peace, for the magnitude of the soul and for altruistic generosity”. Each of the staff members was awarded the medal“Good Citizen of the Nation". In addition, the name of the Bad Ems Institution is being registered in the book of honour "Common Good of the Nation". Lothar Pirc, the managing director was awarded the gold medal “For honour and usefulness”. Dr. Karin Pirc, the leading physician of the health centre received the silver medal “For mercy”.

About 50 journalists and 15 TV stations were recording various impressions during the ceremony and the following banquet. The same day the most popular Russian TV broadcast a live interview with Lothar and Dr. Karin Pirc to 33 regions in Russia.
