Certainly one feels good after fasting. Perception improves, impressions and enjoyments are experienced more intensely, and maybe some weight reduction takes place, or a feeling of inner purification. And yet often this good feeling comes at a price.

For example, people who fast may experience disturbed circulation, restricted movement, reduced capacity and increased sensitivity to stress. Perhaps there is also a feeling of sacrifice, but at the same time a desire to see it through. Meanwhile, other family members and colleagues generally continue to follow a normal diet, which makes this form of detoxification even more difficult. Finally, it is often the case that any good effects from fasting tend to disappear all too quickly.
